Diversity, inclusion, and freedom of speech are three values we hold dear to us at Alexis Chateau PR. Many companies pay lip service to diversity, but few uphold it.
Pepsi’s tone-deaf attempt at singing the diversity tune is an excellent example of what happens when media teams are not diverse enough.
At Alexis Chateau PR, our genuine commitment to inclusion is illustrated by the diversity of our team. We currently boast four religious affiliations, three nationalities, four ethnic groups, four languages… and a cat.
Supporting the Immigrant Community
We further showed our commitment to diversity, by shutting down business from midnight to midnight on February 16, 2017 in support of immigrants.
…at Whatever Cost
The end result was increased support from our clients and readers, but backlash from onlookers on the other side of the fence.
Would we do it all again?
Yes. In a heart beat.
We stand by our core values.
Personal Commitment
Outside of the company, Founder & Managing Director, Alexis Chateau, has dedicated much of her personal time to speaking on diversity issues. Some of her most popular posts include:
- Translating Becky with the Good Hair
- Kinky Locks – Too Naughty for Corporate America
- How to Deal with Misogyny on Social Media
- 20 Totally Relatable #BlackWomenAtWork Tweets
Beyond our Platform
To complement these efforts, we recently had the opportunity to extend our voice beyond our platforms.
On April 17, 2017, Spark Hire published a piece that included our thoughts on diversity, inclusion and freedom of speech – and how we make it work at the firm.
