Atlanta, GA – Alexis Chateau PR, LLC recently hired an abandoned stray as its Goodwill Ambassador.
Shadow replaces former Office Cat, Smokey Chateau who tragically went missing on November 13, 2016. Founder and managing partner, Alexis Chateau, was away for the weekend on a business trip at the time of her disappearance.
Following our loss, the company altered its clientele focus to include non-profit organizations advocating for animal rights.
The Hunt
Alexis Chateau PR first began its search for a new Office Cat in mid-December, when Smokey still did not return to resume her position.
The company’s ad reportedly attracted many fine candidates from as far as a hundred miles away. However, ACPR declined these offers in hopes of finding a black feline.
Founder Alexis Chateau explains:
Black cats have the lowest adoption rates in shelters all around the US, and the highest kill-rates. We wanted to ensure at least one black cat escaped that fate, and hoped he might encourage other adopters to reconsider the shadow at the back of the cage.
Background
As a former stray, Shadow brings a lifetime of animal welfare experience to the table. The woman who fostered Shadow prior to his employment and adoption tells us:
Someone dropped him off on my doorstep. They must have known I was a volunteer. I think he may have been abused, but with love and patience, he’ll come out of his shell.
Due to his questionable past, Shadow was put on a month-long probation period. During this time, he transformed from a quiet, submissive, and timid kitten into a rambunctious scamp that gets into all sorts of trouble in the office and the home.
Climbing the Ranks
After watching him breeze through the probation period with flying colors, Chateau made the strategic decision to promote Shadow to Goodwill Ambassador. She is confident he will help the brand to network with animal rights organizations, especially non-profits.
Along with his networking responsibilities, Shadow works to improve morale, and to keep the office vermin-free. When asked about his new role in the firm, Shadow told us:
I’m honored to be a part of the Alexis Chateau PR team. There are so many animals who suffered as I did, but who have so much to offer to patient and loving owners if we get the chance. Thank you Alexis, for giving me mine.
Compensation
Shadow commands a whopping 3-figure salary, but the firm declines to disclose further details about his benefits. They are rumored to be indulgent, which is not surprising, considering the firm’s longtime affiliation with animal welfare.
While living in Jamaica, Chateau volunteered at Montego Bay Animal Haven. She is also a former writer and petitioner at Animal Petitions.

Well done for adopting a black cat. I have no idea why people have such strange preconceptions. She is a lovely ambassador with her amber eyes.

Thanks Kerry. Shadow is indeed quite the handsome gentleman.
I’m not sure why people dislike them either. Even when I adopted Smokey, I had been looking for a Black cat but she came along first and got lucky.

Oops, I didn’t notice that Shadow was a handsome gentleman. 😸 I think it is wonderful when companies adopt pets. It was very common in the past (for mousing) and every shop in Amsterdam has a cat!

That’s fine. His grandma mistakes him for a girl very often. I think this is why he’s so adamant about wearing his bow tie to work. Haha.
I didn’t know that about Amsterdam. That’s amazing. Unfortunately for Shadow, we have no real mice, but he has plenty of fake ones to chase indoors. 🙂

Shadow would love living here. We are literally crawling with critters. Toffee is addicted to lizards and I have become an expert lizard catcher. They have some kind of LSD (for cats) substance on their skins.

I didn’t know that about lizards and cats. My cat back in Jamaica used to love to catch them. Now I know why.
I’m sure Shadow would love Amsterdam. Unfortunately I’m not sure he’s quite up for international travel. Haha.

Thanks John! We’re doing our best to bring black kitties back. It’s a shame how many people are turned off by such beautiful coats, and lovely creatures.
Thanks again for your support! Do you have a black cat as well?
