Buffer Will No Longer Support Personal Instagram Profiles

As of October 2020, Buffer will only support Instagram accounts that have been converted to business profiles. The change comes amid reports that Instagram also plans to focus more of its efforts on supporting creator and corporate accounts.

The good news is that converting your Instagram account from a personal profile to a business page is fairly simple. If you do not yet have a business account and don’t know how to convert yours to one, check out this article for step-by-step assistance.

For your business Instagram account to work with Buffer, it will need a few more features enabled. The first is that you must connect the Instagram page to a Facebook page. Secondly, you need to enable direct scheduling.

Buffer reports that it does plan to reinstate services for personal accounts in the future, but this may take some time. In the meantime, if you choose not to convert your account, your personal Instagram page may simply disappear from your Buffer dashboard.

    1. Hi, Michael. I’ve been mostly focusing on my personal blog (which I’m commenting from now), so you probably haven’t seen the company blog often in your feed. Thanks for dropping by!

      6. That’s why I chose not to move to Germany when I had the chance. I don’t like the cold. 😂
