Alexis Chateau Promotes Shadow the PR Cat to Head the Indie Author Division

Atlanta, GA – If you follow us on social media, then you may have noticed a strange new name in our usual lineup.

Announcement

It wasn’t long before people started asking questions. What, with my fancy new Twitter banner and all!

So, I made our first official announcement on Instagram, to explain what it was, who we were looking to work with, and why they should hurry on-board before launch date.

Announcement 2.0

Unfortunately, Alex wasn’t very pleased with my unofficial way of handling the announcement, so here I am, writing a press release as punishment – a lesson in properly managing a launch, she says.

If you’re wondering what my role is at black CATastrophy, I’m in charge of putting the website together; managing the blog; moderating comments; and building a big community of writers, readers, and reviewers. I’m also the first point of contact before indie authors are handed over to Alex.

So basically, I handle all the fun stuff. The social media promotions, the memes, the tippie-tappying on the keyboards, and networking with the most amazing people on the interwebs – all on me.

Are you jealous? Well. You should be!

New Position at the Firm

To formalize my new responsibilities with the firm, Alex gave me a new title. I am no longer just the Goodwill Ambassador. I’m also Head of the black CATastrophy Indie Author Division.

It hasn’t all been a walk in the park, though.

It’s been a lot of hard work – most of it done while Alex was out having the time of her life in California, but we won’t talk about that… The point is: I got a lot done, and I’m proud as any puss about the progress we’ve made.

Due Credit to the Team

Even so, I guess I still owe some thanks to Alex, and the rest of the team. Alex created the name “Black Catastrophy” in the early 2000s, in hopes of using it later on as the title of a creative project.

Then, in 2015, Senior Business Consultant, Johnson Sainvil, encouraged her to create a platform where indie writers like herself could thrive. Naturally, the old name came to mind.

Unwilling to take on a new project, just as she was settling in a new country and re-branding her business in a new location, Alex nonetheless started thinking up a design for the logo.

Black Catastrophy

She shares.

I remember explaining it to Alyssa: I just want it to say ‘Cat-as-trophy’ and then the ‘y’ should be a black cat with pointy kitty ears, and the tail should come all the way around to make that ‘C’

She told me, ‘Sketch it and send it to me’. I scribbled the design on a notepad, sent her a picture on Whatsapp, and by the end of the day, I had my logo.

I held on to it for almost two years, not quite sure when and how I would use it, until Shadow decided it was time we focus on our favorite niche.

Our Favorite Niche

But why would we give up our higher-paying business clients? Well, we’re not giving them up. We’re still open to connecting with, and working with, entrepreneurs and startups in Atlanta and around the world.

However, moving forward, we will be focusing our attention more and more on working with indie authors and other creative types.

Yes, that decision does mean we’re taking a cut to our bottom line, but our core business has always been centered around doing what we love; not just passing our services off to the highest bidder.

A Tinge of Bias

“I’m an indie author myself, so the love is a partial bias on my part,” Alex admits. “I’m holding off publishing my own novels, until I finish the last of my 5-book series, but my short stories have been well-received so far. I count them as a foreshadowing of better things to come. We’ll see.”

Indeed, we shall!

Stay tuned for more updates as we move towards launch date of August 13th 2017. And if you’re really serious about working with us, there’s no time like the present to ensure you lock in at our pre-launch rate!
